Description: |
With Spring in the air, why not join us at the Albert Hall for a concert of beautiful music including Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante featuring our own leader (Clare Bhabra) and principal viola (Ann-Marie Shaw) as soloists.
Louise Farrenc was a talented pianist and professor of piano at the Paris Conservatory. Her work as a composer was largely forgotten until the late 20th century when many were rediscovered and recorded. Her delightful Overture No 1 is included in our programme.
Works by our featured composer for the season, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, were included in our November and January concerts and we continue that trend here with his Othello Suite.
Robert Schumann's 5 movement Symphony No 3 - The Rhenish completes the programme.
Programme:
Samuel Coleridge-Taylor - Othello Suite
Mozart - Sinfonia Concertante
(Soloists: Clare Bhabra & Ann-Marie Shaw)
Louise Farrenc - Overture No 1
Schumann - Symphony No 3 ("The Rhenish")
