Sunday 14th October 2018, 3.00pm
Albert Hall, Nottingham
Conductor: Mark Heron
Act 4 of La Boheme
Overture In the South (Alassio)
Pines of Rome
To open our 2018/19 season we invite you to Escape to Italy!
Our concert features music by two native Italian composers which contrasts with two views of Italy by Northern Europeans.
The works by Tchaikovsky and Elgar were both written after visits to Italy, while Puccini's La Boheme is one of the great Italian operas, passionate and tragic. Respighi's tone poem moves from the gentlest of nightingales to the awesome power of the Roman Legions.
The concert features talented young alumni from the Royal Northern College of Music:
Musetta – Lauren Coulter
Mimi - Eliza Boom
Rodolfo – Iain Henderson
Marcello – Lachlann Lawton
Schaunard – Peter Lidbetter
Colline – Timothy Bagley
