Brahms
Symphony No 1
Symphony No 2
Sunday March 26th 2017
Brahms
Symphony No 3
Symphony No 4
In a first for the NPO we present a complete cycle of Brahms' four symphonies over one weekend.
The last time such a cycle was performed in Nottingham was by the CBSO under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. As this was over 30 years ago we believe that a repeat is well overdue!
The four symphonies are a pinnacle of Brahms' career, and of music in the 19th century. They cover a wide range of emotions, from the stern drama of the first through the joy of the second, the nostalgic reflection of the third to the power of the fourth.
A rare event, not to be missed!
