Richard Rodgers (1902 - 1979)
Overture "South Pacific"
Richard Rodgers was another New
Yorker who studied at the Juilliard School of Music.
His first collaborator was Lorenz Hart, and from 1943
Oscar Hammerstein II. They produced many great musical
shows including Oklahoma, Carousel, The King and I,
South Pacific, and The Sound of Music. South Pacific
has many fine songs which appear in this overture,
including "Some Enchanted Evening", "Bali
Hai", and "There is Nothing like a Dame".
