Henry Mancini (1924 - 1994)

The Pink Panther

Henry Mancini was an American of Italian origin, born in 1924. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, and went on to become a house composer for Universal Studios. Later he turned freelance, and began a fruitful relationship with director Blake Edwards. For Edwards he wrote the Oscar winning score for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which includes the song Moon River. He also wrote the music for all of Edwards’ Pink Panther movies. He died in 1994.
