Jerome Moross (1913 - 1983)

The Big Country

Jerome Moross was a New Yorker, who studied music at New York University and the Juilliard School of Music. He wrote in a variety of styles, but is best known for his Westerns. He knew the prairie land of the Westerns personally, having taken a trip from Chicago to Hollywood in 1936, by bus. He stopped off in the mid-west, and fell in love with this "Big Country".
