Danny Elfman (b. 1953)
Batman Suite
Composer Danny Elfman has worked a lot with Tim Burton – e.g. all the Batman films, recent remake of “Charlie & Choc Factory”, the animation “Corpse Bride”. He is credited with over 100 film scores. He also wrote “The Simpsons” theme, which must have made him rich by itself!
The first Batman film of the series came out in 1989. It was justly acclaimed because it cut away the frivolous camp style of the TV series, and replaced it with a dark & threatening gothic world. The music is as dark as the film – and this suite is really a rather fine tone poem for orchestra.
