Carl Davis (b. 1936) A Duck's Diary for narrator and
orchestra
Carl Davis was born in New York but moved to England in 1971 with his British wife. He composes much theatre music and film scores. He has carved a niche for himself with several orchestral scores for old silent movies, such as Napoleon, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Phantom of the Opera, Ben Hur. He also has many TV scores to his credit, including The World at War series, and Pride & Prejudice. He collaborated with Sir Paul McCartney on his Liverpool Oratorio & conducted its first performance in the Anglican cathedral in 1991.
A Duck’s Diary was written in 1990 to a text by Carla Lane.
