It is now fifteen years since the animated version of Raymond Briggs' cartoon classic was first shown on television, and it has been repeated virtually every year since. The film has a fine soundtrack which is wordless, apart from the song 'Walking in the Air'. However, the composer, recognising the potential for concert performance, wrote a narration to accompany the music, which explains the story with considerable wit and charm.
