Richard Addinsell is probably more famous for the "Warsaw Concerto" than anything else that he wrote. This piece was written for a wartime film called "Dangerous Moonlight", which told the unlikely story of a Polish concert pianist flying in the RAF. During the film the music is heard in snatches before being played in full at a concert near the end of the film. For piano and orchestra, it is in a flamboyant romantic style, and is reminiscent of Rachmaninov – especially his popular Prelude in C# minor. It is certainly more like a prelude than a concerto in length, being quite short and in a single movement.
