Haydn: The Creation

Nottingham welcomes home internationally renowned conductor, Nicholas McGegan OBE, to direct a performance of Haydn's sparkling masterpiece. Haydn was inspired to write the work after hearing the oratorios of Handel on his visits to London. It was an instant success at its premiere in 1798 and featured an orchestra of over 120 players - one of his largest instrumental ensembles. This gala concert is part of Nottingham High School's 500th anniversary celebrations and features choirs from the school and from St Mary's Church.
